Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has clarified its position amid tensions surrounding Winky D’s traditional December 31 crossover gig at Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
Reports had surfaced alleging Winky D might be unable to perform at the HICC this year due to a scheduling conflict. This caused ripples in the entertainment community.
Winky D’s lawyers, Tsunga Law International, stated that the venue was no longer available after RTG purportedly booked another event on the same night.
However, RTG spokesperson Pride Khumbula dismissed these claims, stating discussions with Winky D’s team were ongoing and amicable. “We remain in cordial talks,” Khumbula said.
She further expressed surprise at reports suggesting the deal was off. “The circulating reports are untrue,” she added, signaling confidence in a resolution.
The HICC has long been Zimbabwe’s top venue for major indoor events, hosting celebrated artists and grand spectacles. Its reputation continues to draw the biggest names.
Through its Gateway Streams Media, RTG has staged performances by prominent stars, including Jah Prayzah, Janet Manyowa, and Feli Nandi, reinforcing its cultural relevance.
Winky D’s crossover shows have traditionally taken place at the HICC, creating a ritualistic bond between the artist, the venue, and his loyal fanbase.
This unexpected turn of events has fueled speculation within entertainment circles. Many are eagerly watching how the discussions between Winky D and RTG unfold.
As New Year’s Eve approaches, the spotlight remains fixed on whether Winky D will return to his iconic HICC stage or seek an alternative venue for his legendary performance.
